Guy Ritchie to Direct Live-Action "Hercules" Remake

Disney has announced that Guy Ritchie, who directed 2019's live-action Aladdin starring Will Smith, will be directing a live-action remake of Disney's 1997 hit animated film, Hercules.

The production company AGBO, headed up with Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo, is producing the film. Reports have it, that Dave Callaham (Shang-Shi, Wonder Woman: 1984) wrote an initial draft for the script, and that Disney is searching for additional writers.

Recognized for his action-packed tenacious films such as "Sherlock Holmes (2009)" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", Disney seemingly has good faith that Ritchie will do the beloved film justice.

However, the Live-Action adaptation will not be a direct translation from the animated film. The Russo's also claim that they are bringing "something new to the table" claiming; "We're going to give you a different story. I think we'll do something that's in the vein of the original and inspired by it, but we also bring some new elements to the table."

Hercules is the latest Classic Disney film in the to receive a Live-Action counterpart.
