Bill and Ted Face the Music

Bill and Ted Face the Music! What an EXCELLENT film....or was it?

Like any sensible person awaiting the arrival of a sequel to a beloved, long thought dead, franchise. I decided to binge the previous films; 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure' and 'Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey'. Even though I hadn't seen these films in many years, they were just as witty and entertaining as I had remembered.  So, needless to say, I was excited for Part 3.

While watching Face the Music, I was quite entertained. However I VERY quickly began to notice that the film is riddled with inconsistencies (when compared to the previous films) and major plotholes throughout the sequel.

One of the most confusing parts of the film was the time travel. Yes, I'm aware that time travel in any film is in a sense confusing. Face the Music however, takes it to a new level. As we know from the trailer, Bill and Ted have yet to create the song that is intended to unite galaxy in peace. So, they decide to go to the future to get it from their future selves. And they need to do this all before the entire fabric of the universe destroys itself. So the two spend a large duration of the film jumping forward in time desperately trying to find a future version of themselves before the universe collapses in the next 74 hours.

Now the problem with this is that all but one version of themselves do not have the song. Which it's completely illogical, seeing as how those future versions of Bill and Ted must have lived through the 74 hour time window that I mentioned before. So long story short, the future versions of Bill and Ted wouldn't exist unless they already had the song and saved the universe as we know it.

While entertainment enough, the film itself consistantly contradicts it's predecessors, and itself, in a way too obvious to simply overlook.
