Why Batman Will Never Be Black

Yes I know a lot of people are going to freak out over this post, but once I explain why this will more than likely never be, maybe you'll come to understand my point of view on the reason why everyone's favorite Dark Knight will never be black. The perfect place to start is with Batmans' origin.

Origin

Bruce Wayne, born to Dr. Thomas Wayne and his wife Martha. The two were very wealthy and charitable Gotham City socialites. Bruce grew up in Wayne Manor living a happy and privileged life, that is until the age of eight. Bruces' parents were murdered by a small-time criminal named Joe Chill while on their way home from a movie theater. Too which one day Bruce would one say declare an oath to rid Gotham of the evil and villainy that had taken his parents lives.
If Batman were to ever be cast as a Black man this origin scene would not be socially acceptable, because of the race change it would be safe to assume that both of Bruces' parents would also be Black. Joe Chill was depicted as a White man. As we all know, in our current society, this would be such an outrage that the Black Lives Matter group as well as many of those from the Liberal Left would protest, petition, and boycott the production declaring it a 'Hate Crime'. However this in a way could be resolved if Joe Chill was cast as an African American man as well, but then there would also be another downside. That downside being that it is a Black man who is the mugger. Those who would protest that Joe Chill is White would also claim that Joe is an example of a Black stereotype that Black men are mean, vicious and criminal.

The Name

Just Batmans' alternate name could itself be considered racist, The Dark Knight. We all know that the name The Dark Knight represents the black costume Batman dawns, as well as the fact that most of his vigilante crime fighting is done a night. Not only that, but Batman taps into his dark side while fighting crime. Many a time we've seen how Batman reduces his enemies into a unrecognizable pulp, however we all know he has one rule, he will never take a life.
However if Batman were to be cast as an African American man that name would be considered criminally intolerable. Many would claim that the name 'Dark Knight' would be referring to Bruces' skin color. Those groups and individuals would be accusing the studio of racism yet again. You can even go so far out as too say that the name Batman could be considered an act of racism, but that's for another time.

Fighting Crime
We all know that The Dark Knight is an amazing kickass crime fighter who tends to always take the law into his own hands. However others may not view it that way. Even with a Black Batman fighting and pulverizing criminals for the good of Gotham, there will still be viewers who claim that by Batman beating up people, he is still being shown as a violent Black man. In our world this would be considered unacceptable in many forms and fashion. No matter how righteous the intent, a Black Batman would be seen as a stereotypical criminal who wreaks havoc and mayhem upon others. All in all the whole production would be branded a hate crime against the African American race.

Personally I would love to see a Black man take on the cowl. Who wouldn't agree that Idris Elba would make a fantastic Batman! However, that doesn't seem to be in the cards anytime soon. We can only hope that one day when we are more mature as a society that we will have the privilege of seeing this unique change.
