Cry-Baby

From the mind of the Amazing John Waters circa 1990 comes a movie that is so dear to my heart.

Cry-Baby is set in mid 1950's America. A fine line is drawn between the Socially acceptable and the Counter-Culture of the time. A film that throws everything at you, to make you face that fact that the other-side matters too. This film has such memorable characters as Cry-Baby (Johnny Depp) and Hatchet-Face (Kim McGuire). A true star-crossed romance for the Americans, who aren't a fan of
The Bard. Rocking a soundtrack that is sure to please you, no matter what side you are rooting for, you're sure to tap a toe or two while watching this movie.

Rock-a-billy clashes with High Class, and shakes Baltimore, Maryland, to its core. What seems like a battle between Faith and Freedom, boils down to one constant ... Love.

What starts as a stolen moment, the two lovers run away together. Following a mass detainment, the lives of our counter-culture heros are torn asunder. It seems that justice favors the conformed majority. Passions and pain run high as so many people try to move past the events of the night before.

Trying to come back from what seemed like a mistake, our leading lady Allison (Amy Locane) misses the taste of freedom and realizes the life she wanted to return to, isn't all it was cracked up to be. Misplaced emotions and, self realization builds into a steam-filled musical number, that is freeing for both of our lovers, concluding in a tear filled ending of our lovers in each others arms.

A must see classic, Cry-Baby is a staple in any movie collection, and a highly recommended feature for a 90's movie marathon!
